The City of Timpson holds annual elections on the May uniform election date (first Saturday in May).
General Information
The City Council is made up of six members (Mayor and five councilmembers). All councilmembers are elected "at large." All office holders for city elective office shall meet the requirements for public office prescribed by state and federal law. They must be registered voters, reside in Texas for 1 year and within the city limits for at least 6 months prior to the election and be at least 18 years of age by the date of the election.
May 4, 2024 Election – City Council Member (2) and City Mayor
The filing period for the May 4, 2024, General Election will be Wednesday, January 17, 2024 – Friday, February 16, 2024.
Candidate packets will be available for pick-up at City Hall starting January 17th at 8:00 AM and must be returned to the City Secretary
no later than Friday, February 16th, by 5:00 PM.
The early voting period will be Monday, April 22 – Tuesday, April 30 at Timpson City Hall, 456 Jacob St., Timpson TX 75975
Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 PM.
Election Day is May 4th, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM at the Timpson ISD Middle School Gymnasium located on 836 Bear Dr.

The Texas Election Code 631(b) requires a photo ID in order to vote in Texas. The Texas Transportation Code, Chapter 521A and 37 Texas Administration Code, Sections 15.181-185, authorizes DPS to issue Election Identification Certificates.
